  • National Cheerleading Competition

    Sat 23 Jun 2018

Today 15 of our Year 5 and Year 6 girls danced two outstanding performances at the School's National Cheerleading Championships at the Manchester Velodrome. Their routines were flawless and their chants echoed around the Velodrome. They showed amazing team spirit by cheering 100% for all the other competitors. The pom dance was against 5 other schools and the cheerleading routine was against 7 others and they walked away with 2 fantastically deserved 2nd places. The hosts also complimented the girls on their manners which is always lovely to hear! Northern staff were very proud of our girls today!

  • Manchester Actors Perfomance

    Fri 22 Jun 2018
Today our Year 4, 5 and 6 children were treated to live theatre right in front of their very eyes! Two actors from the Manchester Actors Company came in and re-told Greek myths to the children. The actors were amazing and the children were fixated on the stories that were coming to life right before them! We learnt all about Pegasus, Perseus, Odysseus, Theseus, Narcissus and King Midas. The children gave a rapturous applause when it was over and it was all they could talk about when they returned to class. The actors also complimented the children on how spectacular their behaviour was and commended how they listened so intently. Well done!
  • Football Competition

    Mon 18 Jun 2018
Today our football team went to Helmshore Primary school and played 2 matches. They played their hearts out but sadly were defeated in both. They showed great resilience and team spirit in both games and Miss Collins was very proud of them. Well done boys!
  • Vision Assembly

    Mon 18 Jun 2018
Today at Northern, the children were very lucky to have an assembly delivered to them by Vision. The children learnt all about what peace was and how it is important for everyone to understand why we need to live in peace. The puppets then showed the children how to sing Peace is like a River and perform the actions that went with the lyrics. Well done to you all.

  • PTA Summer Disco

    Thu 14 Jun 2018
Tonight the school was brought to life by our very own PTA Summer Disco. The DJ played fantastic music and the children wowed the parents, staff and their peers with their amazing dance moves. We had dance offs between the boys and girls and Miss Nuttall and Mrs Melvin led the KS1 children through the old party classic 'The Music Man'. Everyone who came had a great time and we raised lots of money for our PTA! Massive thanks to the PTA members who organised everything!
  • Year 2 Trip

    Thu 14 Jun 2018
Today our Year 2 class went to Farmer Ted's in Ormskirk for their end of school trip. This linked all of their learning from their Farm Shop topic and then the trip provided the opportunity to apply a context to their learning. The children took part in pony grooming, meet the Guinea Pigs, a Ferret workshop which included a Ferret race! They also had a tractor ride and looked at a variety of birds! This sounds like a fun-packed day and the children came back smiling and shattered all at the same time! Well done Year 2 on your impeccable behaviour throughout your trip!
  • Reading Detectives

    Wed 13 Jun 2018
Today children from Year 4 invited their parents and grandparents into school to take part in a Reading Detectives workshop organised by Mrs Dixon and Mrs Rothwell. The children had to find clues, solve them and piece the evidence together in order to solve the crime. They used our very own Year 6 children to play the parts of the villains and suspects! The parents gave fantastic feedback and the winning family was the Parker family so massive congratulations to them! Another successful event held for parents to work alongside their child. Thank you to those that managed to attend.
