Burnley Football Club
Thu 07 Jun 2018This term, Year 5 will be having sessions delivered by Burnley Football Club linking Science and PE. The children spent time in class learning about health and nutrition and then the second session is spent completing PE games and activities such as Fitness Cluedo. There will be weekly updates on Year 5's class page.

Family Learning Science Session
Thu 07 Jun 2018Today, parents and children could work together on understanding how structures work in Science and what is needed to make a strong one. They also learnt about the properties of materials and built their own structure using coloured spaghetti and marshmallows. The children came back into class and told the rest of the children what they had been doing and it was supported well by parents. A big thank you to those who were able to give up their time and attend.

Faith Centre Visit
Wed 06 Jun 2018Today in school, Year 2, 4, 5 and 6 were visited by Mr Anwar and Ruth from Lancashire Faith Service. They came into school to talk to the children about the Islam religion and teach the children all about what is important in the religion and how to be a good Muslim. They brought lots of objects for the children to look at and see first-hand what relics of the religion look like. They then taught the children Arabic and the children got to have a go at writing their names. A wonderful time was had by all and the children were able to gain good insight into the Islamic religion. -
Cross Country competition
Thu 24 May 2018Today 18 children represented Northern Primary School at Marl Pits in the Inter-schools cross-country competition. The weather was very warm with little breeze but the children showed the resilience that we encourage and develop here at Northern and they performed magnificently! Massive shout outs must go to Ethan and Grace who finished in the top 25 runners in their category which resulted in them being invited to represent Rossendale at Witton Park in June. Good Luck! -
Family Learning Workshop - Back to Nature
Wed 23 May 2018Today our Key Stage 2 children had the opportunity to work alongside their parents in a Back to Nature workshop held by the Family Learning Centre. This session promoted collaborative learning between parents and children and the children looked at the area surrounding school and the wildlife and nature that are around us on a daily basis. Thank you to all the parents that attended!

Year 5 Trip
Tue 22 May 2018Today our Year 5 class went on their school trip to Tropical World. This was linked to the topics they had been covering in class and the children learnt all about the rainforest and what lives in them and how things adapt to the habitat in order to survive. They also learnt about our native woodlands and compared them to the rainforest. They had an excellent day and they represented Northern fantastically.

Year 3 Trip
Mon 21 May 2018Today our Year 3 children enjoyed a trip to the Museum of Science and Industry. They linked all the learning they had done in class and took part in workshops to show off their understanding. The children had a super day and the museum staff were impressed with the children's knowledge and behaviour. Well done Year 3!

Royal Wedding Celebrations
Fri 18 May 2018Today the children were invited to our very own Northern 'Royal Wedding!' The children made wedding hats and gathered in the hall for our very own wedding service performed by Mr Davies. The bridal party then left the hall to tune of the rest of the school singing 'Can't Stop the Feeling'. The children also found out the winners of the 'Design a Wedding Dress' competition and the results were as follows:
4th place - Rosie
3rd place - Liiliegh
2nd place - Amelia
1st place - Lois
We then all attended the wedding banquet in the yard wearing our very own gold crowns! The children have had an amazing day and special thanks to all the staff involved in the planning and running of today's celebrations!

Storytelling Chair and Stools
Fri 18 May 2018One of our parents has won a competition run by local company, Let's Play Everywhere. Finlay and Jack's mum entered a prize draw and amazingly her name was drawn out from hundreds of others.
Thanks to Jack and Finlay's mum the children now have a fantastic new addition to the Quiet Area.
