Northern is an amazing place for our children to learn. In our latest news section we will share with you the latest events taking place across the school. More detailed information can be found on your child's class website page.
I would like to share with you a letter that has arrived in school from the Minister of State for School Standards, Nick Gibb.
I would like to congratulate you, your staff and your pupils for the very high standard that your pupils in your school have achieved in writing and in mathematics for the 2016 key stage 2 assessments.
Your school's results, as published on 15 December, show that 100 per cent of your pupils attained the expected standard in writing and mathematics at the end of key stage 2. This means that your school is in the top 1% of primary schools in England for attainment in writing and mathematics.
Thank you for your hard work and professionalism in producing such high standards and congratulations again to you and your staff for all you have achieved.
With best wishes.
Yours sincerely,
Nick Gibb MP
On Monday 16th January, Years 4, 5 and 6 took part in a BBC live lesson to launch the BBC Radio 2's 500 words short story competition. It was hosted by Naga Munchetty and Benny Harwood. The special guest authors were Malorie Blackman and Frank Cottrell-Boyce. It was full of fantastic ideas and resources and every child thoroughly enjoyed the session and were left buzzing with wonderful ideas for their own 500 word story. As a result of this session, all of the children will be entering the competition - watch this space!
Children in both key stages said how much they had enjoyed the disco in school. Well done to all members of the PTA and staff who made this such a successful evening.
We had a very special singing assembly today where the children learned Flanders Field sung by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae.
During this assembly, we were very lucky to learn the first chorus in sign language. Many thanks to Miss Stott who spent time teaching the children this wonderful skill and please take a look at this short clip.
