  • Remembrance Service

    Fri 10 Nov 2017
Today was a special day here at Northern. Years 4, 5 and 6 walked from school all the way to the War Memorial at the top of Deerplay and took part in a service to remember the service men and women who lost their lives for our freedom. The children bravely battled the elements to represent Northern and, as usual, they did us immensely proud. A special mention should go to our Year 6 class who worked together to produce the readings for the service and a special thank you to our readers, who read beautifully.
  • Northern's Harvest Assembly

    Wed 25 Oct 2017
Today at Northern we held our annual Harvest assembly. The children have been working hard and learning all about the Harvest Festival. Parents have been very generous with their donations and as a result of their generosity, people in our local community will receive some lovely food hampers.
  • Northern's Autumn Festival

    Fri 20 Oct 2017
Tonight, Northern held their annual Autumn Festival. Parents and children were treated to a spectacular bonfire and fireworks display. Our famous Chocolate Tombola was again a huge success and families were able to relax with a nice warm drink in our spookily decorated hall. The renown pumpkin competition was another success of the evening with some very creative ideas. These were displayed for all the children and adults to view.

  • Dahlicious Dress Up Day

    Wed 13 Sep 2017
Today we saw Northern Primary School children into characters from Roald Dahl books. Since the start of term, all classes had chosen a Roald Dahl book and planned lots of exciting cross-curricular work around it culminating in a fantastic class display within their class to celebrate their work. The children then took part in a parade to enjoy and celebrate everyone's costumes.
  • School Disco

    Fri 30 Jun 2017
On Thursday 29th June 217 we held our end of year disco.
  • May Fair

    Sat 13 May 2017

Our May Fair managed to survive the elements and a magnificent time was had by everyone. It was opened by the Britannia Coconutters, followed by 2nd Rossendale Scout Band and our entertainment concluded with a performance by Fusion Dance. We would like to say a huge thanks to the PTA and to everyone that helped out and donated prizes because without this support, the fair would not have been the success it was. We raised a massive £1156.47 so thank you to everyone who attended.

  • World Book Day

    Thu 02 Mar 2017
We most definitely did not let the weather defeat our enthusiasm for and our love of characters in books. The school was flooded with amazing book characters as children across the school dressed up as their favourite book characters. It was wonderful to see how many different characters appeared in school from picture books to novels. For more information about what our classes got up to during World Book Day have a look at the different webpages for each class.
  • Robin Hood

    Wed 01 Mar 2017

In school today, the whole school enjoyed a mesmerising performance of 'Robin Hood' performed by the actors from the Story Magic theatre company.

  • Mad Science!

    Tue 28 Feb 2017
This morning at Northern, every child watched a mad scientist at work. The hall came alive with experiments! The theme of the assembly was 'Sound' and the children learnt all about what sound is, how sound travels and how sound can be amplified or changed. The children were immersed in scientific vocabulary such as prediction, hypothesis, vibrations, resound, waves, air and many more. Some children were lucky enough to be chosen as helpers and did a great job. We also made a chicken, tiger and a dinosaur using an empty yoghurt pot, string and some water!?! Finally we experienced fire and how it can be used to make sound.
An excellent time was had by all and Tom (our Mad Scientist) was impressed with the answers the children gave to his questions. A letter regarding the after school club will go home this week.
