Northern is an amazing place for our children to learn. In our latest news section we will share with you the latest events taking place across the school. More detailed information can be found on your child's class website page.
Today our children had their final achievement assembly here at Northern. They had their skills and talents recognised with personalised certificates and Max, Morgan and Miley also received our exclusive Year 6 trophies for Creativity, Perseverance and Resilience. Well done Year 6!
Take a look at our Facebook page to see the videos of the concerts we have performed this half term. We are very musical at Northern!
On Wednesday afternoon Year 1 went on their geography field trip. They walked up behind school, through Mrs Gregory's fields and beyond! As they walked, they looked for physical and human features and were very inquisitive and interested in their surroundings.
Northern were selected to take part in a fantastic event in Blackpool called the Lancashire Schools Games. There were around 2000 children of different ages taking part in lots of events. We were playing cricket and headed off to Blackpool Cricket Club. Whilst there, professional cricketers put our boys through their paces. They came away with not just great skills but lots of great memories. Afterwards we headed back to the Sports ground to watch dance shows, medal presentations and finally a Party in the Park. They danced their socks off and on the journey back to The Valley struggled to keep their eyes open. They really showed the Northern Values and did the school proud.
This weekend our Year 6 children have had an amazing residential at Hothersall Lodge. They took part in a variety of activities ranging from canoeing to climbing to orienteering! They have had an amazing time and made memories that they will never forget. Thank you to the staff who gave up their time to support the children on the trip and well done Year 6 for persevering and enjoying your time and challenges at Hothersall Lodge!
Wow, what a day! The children have all been amazing today and I think they will sleep tonight. Just playing tag rugby and rounders after having another delicious tea. Each and every one of the children have shown true Northern spirit and their determination and perseverance has been amazing. Well done team Northern 👌
We’re up and breakfast was delicious! We had some time before breakfast to spend time with our friends and some of the girls wrote their names using dominoes. We’re ready for a busy day ahead!
Year Six are having a fabulous time at Hothersall lodge. As soon as we get here, the children made their own beds and then we were straight out to activities. Mrs Ewes Mrs Holt went orienteering on Beacon fell, Mr Syers was climbing with his group and Mrs Singleton’s group were busy solving team challenges. When we returned, we had a beautiful cooked meal and then went to the Pavilion to relax, play games and have fun. I think we will have some tired children tonight!
We have had so much fun this week celebrating Sky Arts Week. During this week it was also World Music Day. Take a look at some of the things we have been getting up to. Also, look at our class pages for more detailed activities.
Year 2 - Mrs Regan found this unusual egg on her dog walk this morning and carefully brought it into school for us to look at.
We discussed it lots this morning and spent some time answering these questions:
-What is it?
- Where did it come from?
-What is inside it?
We would love to hear your predictions!
