  • Christianity Workshop

    Fri 23 Mar 2018
Today our children took part in a Christianity workshop. We learnt all about Easter as well as other important historical information about Christianity. We took part in a quiz at the end to see how much we had learnt and Peter was most impressed with every classes behaviour and existing knowledge. Well done Northern!

  • Easter Performance

    Tue 20 Mar 2018
Parents and children have been extremely lucky this week to have seen our hall brought to life by our Year 3 and 4 children with the performance of 'The Chocolate Shop'. We watched as the eggs and the chicks argued about who came first, we saw the chocolate maker become disheartened with all of the arguing only for them to resolve their issues and come out working together at the end of the play. We have some super star actors here at Northern. Well done to Years 3 and 4!

  • Pinocchio

    Wed 07 Mar 2018
Today the children at Northern were treated to a very enjoyable performance of Pinocchio. They saw puppets come to life, the deep dark forest and the inside of a whale's stomach. The children thoroughly enjoyed the performance by two very talented actors and some of our own children actually took part in one of the scenes. A massive thank you to Story Magic for bringing the story of Pinocchio to life in front of our eyes.
  • Dog Safety Assembly

    Mon 26 Feb 2018

Today, we had a special visitor at Northern Primary School.

Billy Boo and his owner Julia held a special assembly in aid of the Blue Cross for Pets.

Julia explained to all the children how we can be safe with dogs.

We looked at different pictures of dogs and assessed their behaviour and stance; we learnt how dogs can look 'red', 'amber' or 'green'.

Red - This was a 'go away' stance and we learnt that is best not to approach these dogs.

Amber - This was a 'be careful' dog and we learnt that these dogs are unsure and it is best to keep away.

Green - This was a 'I'm happy' dog and we learnt that after approaching the dog's owner, we could say hello to this dog.

Some very lucky children then got to have a cuddle with Billy Boo.

  • Woolly Weir Wildlife Project

    Thu 08 Feb 2018

Weir Pride have received funding to work with members of the local community and also with pupils at Northern Primary School to create a wildlife menagerie for Weir Park.

The children are attending a Knitting Club on a Thursday lunchtime when they are being supported in learning: how to knit, how to make pompoms and how to create french knitting.

Keep your eyes on Weir Park to see all of the woolly wildlife creations taking pride of place.

If you would like to get involved at the Doals Centre then contact Weir Pride.
