Today our children have been dancing, wearing non-uniform and buying buns in order to raise money for a worthwhile cause. Through our Rights Respecting School work, the children have been talking about the importance of fundraising to help other children less fortunate than themselves to ensure that they are able to enjoy the rights that they are entitled to. As a result of the hard work of both parents and children, we have raised over £270! Massive thanks to everyone who contributed to this fantastic day!
Today our school has been celebrating World Book Day which is held annually to celebrate the world's fantastic authors a well as promote a love of reading. We have had a wide variety of characters from both children and staff from Cat in the Hat to Gangsta Granny to Willy Wonka and many more - the list is endless. We started the day with an assembly in order for the children to have a look at each other's outfits and then each class went off to celebrate the works of different authors. Reception have looked at Julia Donaldson, Year 1 - Oliver Jeffers, Year 2 - Martin Waddell, Year 3 - Frank Baum, Year 5 - Rudyard Kipling and Years 4 and 6 have studied David Walliams. Staff would also like to say a massive thank you to all the parents for their fantastic support.
Today our children have been learning about Shrove Tuesday and why it is celebrated. They have learnt about who it is important to and why it is now known as Pancake Day. Some children were even lucky enough to enjoy pancakes in their class.
Today our children got to work with their parents on some exciting Science projects that had been organised and ran by the Family Learning Centre. They made some fantastic things and tested some great scientific theories. Many thanks to all the parents or grandparents that managed to attend.
Today several of our children attended a PE event organised by Rossendale Sports Partnership. It was held at Fearns and the events the children could take part in were Curling, Football and Target practice. The children had an amazing time and represented Northern in their usual fantastic manner. Well done!
Tonight 21 of our amazing children took part in the Rossendale Sports Partnership's Dance Competition at Burnley Mechanics. They have all worked so hard this year and it definitely proved worthwhile as they were absolutely outstanding! They danced their hearts out and smiled until their jaws ached and made the hearts of both staff and parents burst with pride! Well done to all of you and special thanks to all the parents who attended.
