Today our Year 5 and 6 Tag Rugby teams attended the Tag Rugby Festival which is held at Marl Pits. They competed against several other schools and performed fantastically. They showed super sportsmanship and team work and represented Northern well. Well done Year 6!
This week in school we have been holding our Aspirations Week. We have held this to help children explore the endless job opportunities that are out there for them. We have had visits from a civil engineer, the police, the fire service, a nurse, a journalist, a company director, Warburtons and the editor from Newsround himself - Paul Plunkett! The children have had a fantastic time and now have lots of amazing job ideas! Well done Northern!
Today Peter and Margaret from Trinity Baptist came into school to present our Year 6 children with their leaver’s books. The children were wished all the success for high school. Well done Year 6!
Today our Year 4 children wowed Year 5 and 6 and their parents with their talents. They played along to songs, showed off their improvisation skills as well as their singing skills. Every parent who attended showed their children how proud they were by having amazing smiles on their faces. Well done Year 4!
Today our children took part in our School Games Day which was organised and ran by our amazing Sports Crew! They organised the events and demonstrated how they had to be completed. We had running, skipping and sack races, Javelin, Bean Bag Hoop Game, Long Jump, Egg and Spoon and most importantly immense fun! Well done to all the children for showing super sportsmanship too and well done Sports Crew!
Today our lucky Year 1 children have had a very special visitor. They learnt all about the seaside and were then treated to a Punch and Judy show. Laughter could be heard around the school from the children who obviously enjoyed the puppets! They did lots of activities in class too and then had an ice-cream to top the day off! Well done Year 1!
Today our Reception children looked very different! They came dressed as pirates and had a very special visitor in the afternoon. The children took part in pirate-themed activities all day and then their visitor showed them lots of artefacts that pirates used. The day was topped off with a delicious ice-cream! Well done Reception!
Today our Year 5 and 6 chidlren put on not one but two performances for their parents and families. The play was Treachery at Traitors' Quay and was set in World War 2! The Dawson children uncovered the spy who happened to be their so-called teacher and the children did an amazing job learning their lines, the songs and showing off their acting skills. Well done Year 5 and Year 6!
Today our parents and Key Stage 1 children had the opportunity to work together in a workshop organised by the Family Learning Centre. The workshop was called Summer Crafts and both children and parents produced some excellent work. Many thanks to the parents who were able to attend this workshop.
