It seemed very strange this year not to be walking with our Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 children up to the Deerplay War Memorial. This is such an important part of our Remembrance Day acts of remembrance that we chose instead to brave the elements on the school field.
Our Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 children laid a wreath at one of the trees on the school field after taking time to reflect during their walk. We were lucky enough to have a recording of the last post played by one of Northern's former pupils which added to our act of remembrance.
Our younger children created poppies which were displayed on the school railings.
From Thursday 11th November until the end of term, you will be able to log on to the Youth Sports Trust after school club sports adventures. These look like a fantastic way to keep fit whilst we are unable to access other sports events and centres.

What a shame that this year's pandemic has put a halt to our annual Autumn Festival fun. It is always so lovely to see all of our families enjoying the fireworks and Festival fun together. Let's just hope that we get to celebrate together later in the year.
Thankfully our PTA have come to the rescue and our carved pumpkin competition could still go ahead - even if it had to be from a distance.
Our Key Stage 1 children also had fun taking part in a spooky crafts session with Lancashire Adult Learning.
Well done to our winners.
Once again our Northern community did not fail to amaze us with their generosity towards those who are not as fortunate as we are. We received mountains of food donations which have all been gratefully received by the food bank in Bacup. Your child's class webpage has all of the harvest fun enjoyed on it.
Here are a few of our Harvest highlights....

What a lucky escape I had in school today! Thank you Key Stage 1 parents for saving me from a menagerie of pets parading through the school gates this morning. So many children tried really hard to convince their parents that they could bring an actual pet to school with them today rather than a photograph.
All of the animal fun is on your child's class website page.
