In Key Stage One this week we have been learning all about Eid and traditional celebrations. We have enjoyed trying traditional foods, designing mehndi patterns, taking part in traditional dancing and Year One have even had henna designs on their hands! Take a look at all the fun we have had.
Today across the school, we have had a coach from All Star Cricket. They have worked on bowling, protecting the wickets and how to hold the bat correctly. They then held a competition to see which class could knock the wickets down first and Year 6 won this challenge so well done to Year 6.
Today we have been meeting Harold the Giraffe! He has been in school and working with every single class on a variety of topics all linked to our PSHE curriculum. The children have worked really hard and Harold has been very impressed with the children here at Northern! He is back tomorrow to work with the classes who have not seen him today! Ask your child what they have learnt and who they have met!
Today at Northern we had a very important visit from Jen at North West Air Ambulance Service. She came to Northern after hearing about our amazing fundraiser which has allowed us to purchase 3 defibrillators around our community as well as make a donation of £1360.30 to the Air Ambulance who rely on donations to be able to keep providing this life-saving service. It was attended by Anna from Anna's Cafe Bar and Dawn Taylor from Rossendale Community First Responders. The cheque was also presented by two of our own pupils - Benjamin and Lola!
Today across Northern we have been looking at Earth Day and why it should be everyone's responsibility to look after our precious earth! This year's message was Restore Our Earth so we have looked at how we as a school can do our bit! The children came up with some super ideas and we will be passing them on to our Eco School lead!
