Today three of our Year 6 children attended Mental Health Champions training with Miss Collins. The children had a fantastic day acting as ambassadors for Northern. Miss Collins was really proud of all three children for the maturity and sensitivity that they displayed throughout the day. When fully trained, our Mental Health Champions will share their knowledge and skills with the Northern Community.
Today our talented Year 3 and Year 4 footballers joined forces as our Team Northern to compete in an inter-schools football tournament. The team wore our amazing new football kits which we received through sponsorship from Hurt Transport. The teams display of perseverance, determination and great sportsmanship led to a skilled performance which resulted in 3rd place.
Today we were very lucky to have a special visitor to Northern. Caroline from the Rossendale charity RAFT came into school and told us all about what amazing things the charity does. The Year 6 children also presented her with their posters they had created to inform more people about this amazing charity. She was completely overwhelmed by the generosity of our families here at Northern so on behalf of all the staff here and the staff at RAFT - Thank you so much!
At Northern, the whole school community collaborates to ensure the well-being of every individual - child or adult - is nurtured. Circle time this week was dedicated to sharing thoughts about how we can support each other to achieve physical and mental wellbeing. The following slides share ideas of how we can all work together towards achieving Article 24. If you would like to watch the videos on these slides then visit our Rights Respecting School page where you will find the power-point.
This week, seven of our talented footballers were selected to take part in the Town Trials for Bacup Football Club. 150 pupils from local schools attended the town team trials along with our seven pupils. Out of these pupils, 30 children were selected to go through to the next stage. Four Northern pupils are now in this final stage to form a team of 16 footballers. Remember how amazing you are and keep believing and shooting for the stars.
