There is no better feeling than when every member of the school community from children to staff are buzzing with excitement. That is exactly what has happened across the school as each child celebrated their favourite book character by dressing up as them. From Fantastic Mr Fox to Harry Potter to Mr Strong there was so much fun! Thank you parents for helping to return the learning sparkle back to every nook of Northern. This is most definitely one of my favourite parts of being Headteacher. As the photos below show, all of the children enjoyed sharing their favourite book character during our whole school parade.
For more photos of the fun enjoyed in each class then make sure you head to your child's class website page.
This morning, look what has happened to Mrs Marr and Mrs Ewens...
More World Book Day fun to follow soon.
Over half term work has taken place in the school grounds to improve the learning opportunities for our children. Both of our Reception and Year One outdoor learning areas have received an upgrade and are well on their way to looking amazing. I will post some new photos once our staff have worked their magic in creating engaging learning spaces within these. We now also have a fantastic grassed area within the school playground which will enrich our quiet area activities during playtimes.
Watch this space for updated photos of our areas.
Each week, children and staff across the school discover what is happening in the world around us and how this will impact on their lives and the lives of others. We thought it would be a great idea to share this with our whole community so that together we can make the world we live in the best it can be.
Today the staff and children came to school wearing their scarves to show their support and raise awareness for good mental health. The children all learnt about how to ensure they always felt positive and the strategies they could use if they were feeling slightly worried or sad. The children showed amazing maturity and caring attitudes when they were discussing this very important topic. Watch out for some new additions to our school railings after half term!
All across school today, the children have been taking part in activities linked to Safer Internet Day. This is an annual themed day that we always study as a school to ensure that all our children know exactly how to stay safe when using the internet! Take a look at the class pages to see what your child did.
Today some children here at Northern attended the Fun Dodgeball Competition at the Valley Leadership Academy. They had music, laser beams and, most importantly, lots of fun! They were fantastically behaved and did Northern proud!
Wow, what a morning we had! We have been learning all about Chinese New Year and have had an amazing time making lots of creative resources. We moved around the Key Stage One classrooms to complete different activities. These included - drum making, Chinese lanterns, Chinese fans and dragons. Check out our class pages to see more of what we got up to!
Today our KS 2 children have had an excellent time outside using natural resources to expand their learning and improve their team building skills. We have created mini-rafts, mini tepees and completed an Outdoor Scavenger Hunt! We have had a fantastic time! Please check out your class webpage for pictures!!
