  • Football Friendlies.

    Mon 07 May 2018
This week has seen the KS 2 boys from Northern take on football teams from 2 other local schools. the first was against St. Saviour's at home and the second was away against Britannia. We are delighted to announce that they won both matches with significantly heavy scores. They won St. Saviour's 6-0 and Britannia 7-0. A massive congratulations to all the boys who played in the matches and who battled the elements bravely! A huge thanks must go to the parents - Mr Welch in particular - who supported the children and also provided transport. I know the boys would also want to thank Miss Collins for organising the matches as well as running the football club. Well done Northern!

After school today, Year 6 girls attended the Cricket competition being held at Bacup Cricket Club. They played very well despite the hot weather and represented Northern well. They did some super batting and some great fielding. They won one game and lost the other which resulted in them receiving a certificate for 2nd place. Well done girls!
  • Move and Learn with Accrington Stanley

    Wed 02 May 2018
This half term, we have had Josh Cooper from Accrington stanley's football academy working with our Year 5 class. There are 6 sessions that provide plenty of opportunity for cross-curricular work that links a variety of subjects such as Literacy, Science PSHE, PE and Maths. During these sessions, one half is when the children learn about the body, how to look after it and how to use it correctly. They the other half is the practical part where they build on skills week on week. Josh has been impressed with the children and their engagement with this initiative. Well done Year 5!
