  • Change 4 Life Festival

    Today some of our children attended a Change 4 Life Festival at Blackburn Rovers Football Club. The children took part in events such as balancing, obstacle course, penalty shoot and Team Bingo. The children had an amazing time and learnt lots of new skills!
  • Christingle Workshop

    Today our Key Stage 1 children took part in a Christingle Workshop which was organised by Mrs Dixon and supported by our very own school chef, Debbie. Debbie spoke to the children about what a Christingle was and its significance at this time of year. The children then made their own Christingle to take home. Many thanks to the parents who were able to come and work with their child. And a big thank you to Debbie for giving up her time to share the meaning of Christingles with the children and parents.
  • Fearns PE Event

    Today 7 of our children went to Fearns to take part in a PE Inclusion event which are specifically aimed at children who enjoy sports in a non-competitive way. The children took part in a variety of activities such as running, javelin, speed bounce, standing long jump and chest push. The children all received medals for their effort and represented Northern exceptionally well. Well done!
  • Year 1 Trip to Gawthorpe Hall

    Today our Year 1 children took part in a Victorian themed workshop at Gawthorpe Hall. The activities consisted of making a Victorian Christmas decoration, adding ingredients and mixing a Christmas Pudding but the highlight was that they met Father Christmas and told them if they had been naughty or nice! The children had an amazing time and are definitely now in the Christmas Spirit! Well done Year 1 on your fantastic trip!
  • Carols Around the Tree

    This evening, despite the blustery conditions, the children and staff from Northern ventured into Bacup to witness the lighting of the tree and then sing some carols around it. We were accompanied by the band and the children sang their hearts out. There was also a very special visitor who came to say hello despite this being his most busiest time of the year. Can you guess who it was? It was indeed Father Christmas! Many thanks to all who braved the elements and supported this local event.
  • Read Write Inc Reception Drop In

    Today, parents of Reception children were able to come in and watch how the children are taught phonics and letter recognition in order to segment and blend new words. This is a transferable skill that the children can begin to apply independently when picking up new books. Many thanks to those that attended.
  • Book Fair

    This week in school, our children have been busy falling in love with buying new books from our school Book Fair. The fair has been held every evening after school and the children had an opportunity during the school day to browse the fantastic selection available to buy. Massive thanks to all the parents who then purchased them. We have raised a fantastic amount of money in order to purchase new books for the class and school libraries.
  • Year 5/6 Athletics Competition

    Today 18 children from Year 5 and 6 represented Northern at the Athletics competition where they took part in running races, obstacle races, under and over races, relay races as well as field event such as javelin, speed bounce, long jump, vertical jump and chest throw. The children did fantastic and received certificates after the event. Well done to all the children that competed - you did yourselves and Northern proud!
  • Preston Crown Court Trip

    Today our Year 6 class went to visit Preston Crown Court and take part in a mock court case complete with defendant, barristers, solicitors, witnesses and a judge. The children had a fantastic time and their behaviour was impeccable. The court ushers were very impressed with our children as were the Northern staff! Sadly there are no photos as this is a strict rule in a court room but the children who dressed up looked fab!
  • Stay and Play in Reception

    Stay and Play sessions have been carried out in school for our Reception Parents. This was an opportunity for parents to spend educational time with their child as well as understand the learning that goes on within the early years setting. The sessions were held on the 13th and 21st November and were well received by parents. Many thanks to those who attended.
