This evening, despite the blustery conditions, the children and staff from Northern ventured into Bacup to witness the lighting of the tree and then sing some carols around it. We were accompanied by the band and the children sang their hearts out. There was also a very special visitor who came to say hello despite this being his most busiest time of the year. Can you guess who it was? It was indeed Father Christmas! Many thanks to all who braved the elements and supported this local event.

Today, parents of Reception children were able to come in and watch how the children are taught phonics and letter recognition in order to segment and blend new words. This is a transferable skill that the children can begin to apply independently when picking up new books. Many thanks to those that attended.

This week in school, our children have been busy falling in love with buying new books from our school Book Fair. The fair has been held every evening after school and the children had an opportunity during the school day to browse the fantastic selection available to buy. Massive thanks to all the parents who then purchased them. We have raised a fantastic amount of money in order to purchase new books for the class and school libraries.

Today our Year 6 class went to visit Preston Crown Court and take part in a mock court case complete with defendant, barristers, solicitors, witnesses and a judge. The children had a fantastic time and their behaviour was impeccable. The court ushers were very impressed with our children as were the Northern staff! Sadly there are no photos as this is a strict rule in a court room but the children who dressed up looked fab!
