• Dance Competition.

  Tonight 21 of our amazing children took part in the Rossendale Sports Partnership's Dance Competition at Burnley Mechanics. They have all worked so hard this year and it definitely proved worthwhile as they were absolutely outstanding! They danced their hearts out and smiled until their jaws ached and made the hearts of both staff and parents burst with pride! Well done to all of you and special thanks to all the parents who attended. 

  

• Year 3 and 4 Handball Competition

  This afternoon a team of our Year 3 and 4 children represented Northern in the Rossendale Sports  Partnership Competition. They played 3 other schools and worked hard as a team and showed super sportsmanship towards the other players. They all received a certificate for taking part in the qualifier and made Mr Davies and Miss Stott proud.

• PTA Valentine Disco

  Tonight our hall was transformed into a disco where the children were able to dance to their favourite songs and have a drink and a biscuit when they had worked up a sweat! Massive thanks to the PTA for organising the discos and to the staff for helping set up and finally to the parents for supporting this fantastic fundraising event which raised £164!

  

• Sign to Sing

  This week in school, the children have been learning all about deaf awareness and how being deaf can affect a child's life. The children have also been learning how to perform the Take That classic Greatest Day using sign language which they performed as a whole school assembly. It was recorded and we will be showing the children next week at how amazing it looked! The non-uniform also helped us raise a significant amount of money to donate to the charity so many thanks to all the parents!

• Year 2 SATs Maths Workshop

  Today our Year 2 parents had the opportunity to attend a workshop to inform them all about the Year 2 SATs and how they can best support their child as well as gain a better understanding of what the tests are and how the results generated are then used as their child progresses through the school.

  

• Heart Start in Year 6

  Today at Northern, Year 6 took part in a first aid session delivered by Dawn and Alan from Rossendale First Responders in partnership with the British Heart Foundation. They came into school to show our Year 6 pupils valuable life-saving skills and the children all successfully completed the training. Well done Year 6!

  

• Special Visitor!

  Today we have had an exceptionally special person in school. Father Christmas took a few hours out of his hectic schedule in order to deliver presents to every child here at Northern. The children were so excited and enjoyed their trip to our beautifully decorated grotto. A massive thank you must go to our elves from Year 6 - Paul and Amelia for helping Father Christmas give out the presents and Father Christmas also commented on how polite the children here were so well done to the children.

  

• Reception's Christmas Activities

  Today the parents of our Reception children were invited into school to take part in some Christmas activities with their child. There were activities such as Playdo and Lego creations, writing a Christmas, making snowman and decorating a gingerbread man. Many thanks to all the parents who managed to attend.

  

• Year 5 and 6's Christmas Party

  This afternoon our Year 5 and 6 children had their Christmas party. It was the last party of the week to be held in school and the children have had a fantastic time. They danced, played games, won prizes and had some party food. Many thanks to the staff involved for making it such a great event.
