  • Our amazing outside learning spaces

    Wed 02 Mar 2022

Over half term work has taken place in the school grounds to improve the learning opportunities for our children. Both of our Reception and Year One outdoor learning areas have received an upgrade and are well on their way to looking amazing. I will post some new photos once our staff have worked their magic in creating engaging learning spaces within these. We now also have a fantastic grassed area within the school playground which will enrich our quiet area activities during playtimes.

Watch this space for updated photos of our areas.

  • What is happening in the news this week?

    Mon 21 Feb 2022

Each week, children and staff across the school discover what is happening in the world around us and how this will impact on their lives and the lives of others. We thought it would be a great idea to share this with our whole community so that together we can make the world we live in the best it can be.

  • Wear Your Scarf To School Day!

    Fri 11 Feb 2022

Today the staff and children came to school wearing their scarves to show their support and raise awareness for good mental health. The children all learnt about how to ensure they always felt positive and the strategies they could use if they were feeling slightly worried or sad. The children showed amazing maturity and caring attitudes when they were discussing this very important topic. Watch out for some new additions to our school railings after half term!

  • Our first School Council meeting for this term!

Thu 27 Jan 2022 Mrs Ewens

I now have the pleasure of leading School Council at Northern and today we held our first lunch meeting!  We all met together to discuss the role of a School Councillor and talked about the differences we would like to make.

Some of the issues raised were -

The cups at lunchtime are not large enough

There are only goal posts at one end of the football pitch (one side is just painted on the wall)

There are no slides, swings or roundabouts in the playground (the meeting is completely child led!)

The other issue which the children raised was the main road and safety.  We have previously been visited by Fox Brothers who talked to the children about road safety, particularly safety around trucks.

Children raised some concerns about the trucks travelling past school during busy times such as coming to school and home time, the dirt which comes from the trucks and also the noise.

I have spoken to a Zowie, a representative from Fox Brothers and she has agreed to attend our next School Council meeting to discuss the issues raised with the children.
